Bang & Olufsen and Antolini® present a new installation for Milan Design Week 2026, exploring the interplay between sound and design in shaping outdoor environments. Rooted in a commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and sensory experience, the project brings together Bang & Olufsen’s expertise in acoustic design and Antolini®’s mastery of natural stone, positioning sound and material as complementary elements in defining atmosphere, spatial identity, and emotional presence.

The installation reflects an approach where sound and material are conceived together—expanding the way environments are experienced, not only through what we see, but through what we hear and feel. The experience invites visitors to immerse in how sound, materials, and landscape can come together to form a new language for outdoor living and offers a preview of Bang & Olufsen’s forthcoming landscape speaker, Beosound Haven.

“Design at Bang & Olufsen has always been about understanding the relationship between technology, materials, and the spaces people inhabit. With this installation, that philosophy extends beyond the traditional room, exploring how beautiful sound can engage the senses and transform outdoor environments into immersive, sensorial spaces,” said Kresten Bjørn Krab-Bjerre, Senior Director of Design, and continues:

“Through Beosound Haven – our forthcoming landscape speaker – we explore sound as an architectural language. It interacts with materials and forms atmosphere, creating a refined sense of place that is both subtle and powerful. It reflects our ambition to find new ways for sound to enrich the experience – not only as something you hear, but as something you truly feel.”

Immersive Sound and Design

Hosted at the Antolini® MilanoDuomo Stoneroom®, the installation offers a preview of Beosound Haven, Bang & Olufsen’s forthcoming outdoor landscape speaker, bringing the brand’s vision of sound and design to the forefront. Visitors cross a symbolic threshold from the city into a contemporary reinterpretation of the natural world, where green installations and a central reflective water table—droplets falling to create rippling sound waves—invite exploration. Key surfaces within the installation feature Antolini®’s Taj Mahal® quartzite in a Matt finish, selected for its soft tonality and refined texture, enabling a subtle interplay between light, material, and sound.

At its core is Bang & Olufsen’s belief in the seamless marriage of sound and design as an architectural layer, unfolding across floral and sculptural stone environments to shape perception and transform each space. Bang & Olufsen’s precision-engineered aluminium engages with Antolini®’s refined natural stone, illustrating how sound, materials, and design can be considered from the earliest stages of spatial planning to create layered, immersive outdoor experiences.

This approach also reflects Antolini®’s design philosophy—extending its expertise beyond interiors into outdoor environments, where natural stone plays a central role in shaping atmosphere, texture, and emotional depth.

“In collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, we have moved beyond traditional design to embrace the open air. By blending the raw elegance of natural stone with precision sound, we’ve created a bridge between nature and technology. These landscape speakers are not just objects; they are a dialogue between the elements, transforming gardens and terraces into living galleries where history and avant-garde meet to host your most meaningful moments,” remarks Carlo Alberto Antolini, Owner of Antolini®.

Craftsmanship in Dialogue

Through Bang & Olufsen’s Atelier program, aluminium—the brand’s signature material—is sculpted into Beosound Haven’s distinctive sphere form and paired with Antolini®’s natural stone. Antolini®, a family-owned Italian company with 70 years of expertise in crafting marble and natural stone for architectural and design projects worldwide, brings a mastery of materiality that complements Bang & Olufsen’s meticulous craftsmanship.

Selected natural stones are explored across the collaboration, each chosen for its distinct depth, pattern, and tactile quality, reinforcing stone as a primary architectural medium within the installation.

The result is a material composition where acoustic performance and design coexist seamlessly, illustrating how sound, design, and materiality work together to shape the perception of space. Antolini®’s natural stone surfaces frame the environment, creating texture, depth, and a tactile context that enhances the sound experience, while demonstrating the artistry and innovation that both partners bring to the project.

Alongside the outdoor installation, the collaboration also extends into a refined material exploration of Bang & Olufsen’s iconic Beolab 18 speakers, reinterpreted through Antolini®’s natural stones in Matt finish, including Amazonite®, Retro Black Petrified Wood, Patagonia Original, Dalmata®, Cipollino Greywave, and Taj Mahal®. Produced in a limited series, each piece is uniquely defined by the character of its material, translating sound into a spatial and sensory experience across both interior and exterior environments. Building on the collaboration introduced in 2025, the project marks a new chapter between Bang & Olufsen and Antolini®, evolving a shared exploration of craftsmanship, innovation, and material excellence into the realm of outdoor living.
