CEDIA Expo, Denver · September 2-4, 2026 · Booth #1646 and Sound Room #8 SIM2 will introduce Seeing First, a new approach to projection engineering that begins not with the projector or its specification sheet, but with the person watching the image.

At CEDIA 2026, SIM2 will bring this approach to life through a dedicated private cinema experience in Sound Room 8, centered on the UltraNero 4S DUO, a dual-engine projection system engineered to create one image through two complementary imaging paths.

For more than thirty years, SIM2 has focused on high-end home cinema projection. Seeing First builds on that experience by changing the order in which the problem is approached: the projector is not the starting point. The viewer is.

SEEING FIRST: ENGINEERING FROM PERCEPTION

A viewer does not experience an image as a collection of specifications. The eye continuously adapts to light and interprets contrast, color and depth in relation to its surroundings. Screen size, room conditions, ambient light and the viewer’s state of adaptation all influence the image ultimately perceived.

Seeing First treats these factors as engineering requirements from the beginning. Measurement remains essential, but the specification sheet is a means, not the end. The design process starts with the viewer, the room and the screen, then works back to the optical, processing and calibration choices that shape the final image.

ULTRANERO 4S DUO: TWO PROJECTORS. ONE IMAGE.

The UltraNero 4S DUO is not two identical projectors working in parallel to increase light output. Its architecture is built around two laser imaging engines performing different but complementary roles.

Each engine follows its own HDR curve, tone mapping and dedicated optical path: one tuned around the brilliance and energy of highlights, the other around depth, tonal separation and shadow detail.

The two imaging paths are then mechanically aligned, electronically integrated and calibrated to behave as one projection system, producing one coherent image on screen. By distributing image rendering across the two engines, the DUO expands the available envelope of brightness, color volume and dynamic range. With up to 12,000 lumens of combined output, it is designed for large and ambitious private cinema installations where image scale places exceptional demands on light and HDR performance.

The objective is not simply more light. It is more room to shape the image, and to make engineering decisions that translate into differences the viewer can actually perceive.

Inside Sound Room 8, SIM2 will host dedicated demonstrations designed for dealers, custom integrators, distributors, designers and private cinema professionals to evaluate the UltraNero 4S DUO in a controlled environment: from the seat, with their own eyes.
