Dubbed “Nature Deconstructed,” this 7,500-square-foot oceanfront residence in Dana Point redefines contemporary coastal living with an intelligent, immersive lighting design and cutting-edge technology that elevates every corner of the home.
Lighting is more than functional here, it’s experiential. Every major space is layered with architectural lighting techniques that blend invisibly into the structure. Knife-edge LED coves trace ceilings and float wall panels to create ethereal glows and lift surfaces with precision, while chandeliers and mirrored accents in the entry dance with natural light to playfully “entertain the energy,” a nod to feng shui principles thoughtfully woven throughout the design. Vertical lighting features in the dining room symbolize tree trunks rising skyward, anchoring the space spiritually and visually
Technology was integrated not as an afterthought, but as a foundational design principle. The home’s $3M+ audio system includes state-of-the-art JL Audio equipment concealed behind acoustically transparent ceiling fabrics in the great room and media suite. Outdoor living areas feature fully motorized, climate-sealed enclosures for televisions, while the primary bedroom boasts a custom TV lift recessed into the raised floor, preserving an uninterrupted view of the Pacific. Every level features automated sliding glass doors that respond at the touch of a button, blending the indoor experience with the coastal climate.
From the acoustically engineered theater with amphitheater-inspired paneling to the ambient glow of biophilic, ocean-hued materials, Headlands House is a masterclass in how advanced lighting and home technology can enhance well-being, elevate luxury, and deepen the connection between architecture and nature.
This home combines advanced technology with thoughtful design to fit naturally into its coastal setting.
