HempWood

The ecologically friendly alternative to traditional wood sources.

WIDELY CONSIDERED TO BE THE PREMIER WOOD SUBSTITUTE with the smallest ecological footprint of any lumber alternative, HempWood® is perfect for use as anything that wood can be used for, like construction materials, flooring and furniture. Mass production and order fulfillment began in the third quarter of 2019. HempWood uses a variety of eco-friendly hemp materials to create sustainable building supplies, and most of the company’s products are non-toxic hemp composite woods that can be used for a wide variety of interior design and general construction.

HempWood is made via a patented process that utilizes bio-mimicry to transform hemp fibers and protein based bonding agents into a viable substitute for anything solid oak can be used for. All hemp growth and material production is conducted in the United States of America and the hemp is grown using sustainable methods, which helps eliminate deforestation. Unlike hardwood trees, hemp plants can go from seed to cultivation in just five months.

Background
The idea of using hemp as a sustainable wood substitute was inspired by the experiences of the company’s founder, Greg Wilson. He was working for a bamboo flooring company years ago when the idea came to him. Since then, Greg and his development team have worked tirelessly adapting the process of creating bamboo-based lumber into one that utilizes different plant species instead, like eucalyptus and hemp (patented).

“Our intention has never been to just create another lumber product,” says Greg. “Instead, we strive to benefit humanity by providing a viable wood alternative. This helps the environment by removing the devastating effects of deforestation from the harvesting process. Simultaneously, we introduce a new cash crop to the farmers of the world, which will undoubtedly disrupt the $60+ billion dollar a year wood industry.”
