  • Designers should expect continued pricing fluidity rather than sudden shocks, particularly as the current administration delays tariffs on imported goods specific to the interior design industry – kitchen cabinets, and vanities, amid increasing construction costs. This shifting environment rewards proactive planning, transparent client communication, and flexible specification strategies. 
  • Design Influences: Generational tastes, particularly those of Gen Z, continue to influence aesthetics, with trends like Dark Academia, Old Money, and the Frazzled English Woman blending nostalgia, intellect, and effortless personal expression. Public and private environments alike are adapting to evolving behaviors, from rising pet ownership and solo living to new comfort-oriented features such as spa-like bathrooms, flexible rooms, and smart home technology. 
  • Comfort-Oriented Features Gain Priority: Homeowners are increasingly prioritizing comfort-forward, functional upgrades. Demand is rising for tranquil bathrooms, radiant heated floors, enhanced daylighting, and practical yet elegant kitchen features such as butler’s pantries and dedicated wine storage. Interest is also growing in flexible, specialized spaces, including junior accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and multi-purpose rooms, while smart home technologies and EV charging remain popular investments. 
  • Kitchens Balance Comfort and Aesthetics: Across kitchens, baths, and broader residential interiors, homeowners are making more deliberate, value-driven design choices. The emphasis is on balancing comfort, aesthetics, and practicality—favoring spaces that feel inviting and timeless rather than trend-driven or excessive.
