Stone Meets Acoustics

Natural stone is one of the most popular products in the interior world thanks to its statement-making patterns, each one unique and dynamic. Now, alternative stones and stone-look designs are on the rise as designers seek to incorporate this in-demand material into projects while still preserving the resource.

Chicago-based acoustic manufacturer, Turf is leading the way for the future of stone with the brand’s addition of stone textures to their existing textures finish family. The curated collection of finishes applies the stunning texture and veining of stone and marble to Turf’s high-performing felt wall and ceiling solutions, utilizing a unique digital printing process that sets them apart from competitors.

The Stone Textures collection joins the Turf’s texture finish family, which was previously a suite of eight wood textures. It was created alongside longtime collaborator and CMF expert Carolyn Ames Noble, ASID, WELL AP, WELL Faculty. The stunning textures came from a strong market desire to use stone for visual impact without sacrificing a space’s acoustic qualities. As stone is known to amplify sound, Turf’s stone textures merge the elegance of stone design while still providing acoustic solutions.

Through Turf’s expert digital printing process the three patterns— Marble, Travertine, and Granite— offer the organic veining and look of stone paired with the high performance of Turf’s acoustics range. The full collection is perfect for specifying hospitality and commercial spaces and offers an interpretation of biophilic design that brings the outdoors in. Stone Textures is best used as a stand-alone design or as a pop of color, but with Turf custom capabilities the textured finish can be applied and customized to fit any space in the design process.

What began as a strong market desire, Stone Textures is truly an innovative finish that provides designers with endless possibilities. As stone will always be a need within the design process, having an alternative option that pairs great with real stone or as a stand-alone product is essential.
