Women in Consumer Technology to Host Leadership Coaching Event

The limited-seating “A Day of Discovery” will deliver leadership tips from certified coaches.

Women in Consumer Technology (WiCT), an organization promoting the advancement of women in the consumer technology industry, is hosting its first A Day of Discovery, an energizing conference to introduce the professional benefits of leadership coaching, on June 16, at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® Innovation House in Washington, D.C. The full-day event will start at 10 a.m. and will feature empowering keynotes from Becky Magnotta of Homestead Coaching and Consulting and Natalie P. Siston, founder of Small Town Leadership and bestselling author of Let Her Out: Reclaim Who You Have Always Been. The agenda also includes three breakout sessions with certified coaches, plus a breakfast and lunch break, and cocktail reception and book signing to close out the day.

“People aren’t born leaders; leadership is built with the right encouragement and intention,” said Carol Campbell, founder of Women in Consumer Technology. “If you’ve been contemplating how to step into a leadership role by working with a leadership coach, this event is for you. Attendees will discover how a leadership coach can help develop the presence and skills you already possess.”

The day’s event will start with an introduction and keynote from Magnotta. She has over 30 years of corporate experience with companies such as Chevron, DISH Network, Lee Hecht Harrison, and BetterUp. She brings 20 years of leadership and talent development experience, and seven years as a leadership coach. She will share her journey of how she discovered her strengths, values, and her saboteurs, which led her to becoming a certified coach. She will also provide an overview of what the day looks like and introduce the event’s team of sponsors, speakers, coach/facilitators, and support.

Siston will deliver the day’s featured keynote. Her career has taken her from Silicon Valley to the Fortune 100 and into entrepreneurship, but being raised in Republic, Ohio (population 600), is where she learned her greatest leadership lessons. She prides herself on using her small-town spirit to create big success in the world. All attendees will receive a copy of her best-selling book and enjoy the opportunity to have it personally signed by the author. Between keynotes there will be three experiential breakout sessions where attendees can gain immediate, actionable tools with time to practice and develop an action plan to immediately apply what they have learned. The breakout sessions will be facilitated by certified coaches Stephanie Brown, principal of FWD Coaching Concepts; Mary D’Amato of 3-D Coaching & Consulting; and Anne Millehan, founder of Millehan Coaching and Consulting. The three breakout session topics are:

– Coaching 101 – What, Why and How: What is coaching and why do I need it and how will it help me? This session will also cover how to find the right coach and how to present your case for your company to pay for it!

– Imposter Syndrome and Presence: Recognize when you are sabotaging yourself and use self-compassion to know you are enough.

– Coaching and Leadership: We are all leaders. We always lead ourselves; we might lead others, lead leaders, or lead an organization. How does leading yourself change through this progressive journey, and how do we ensure we are self-aware and in command of our emotions every step of the way.

There will be extensive opportunities to network at the breakout sessions, breakfast, lunch, coffee break, and cocktail reception.
