Anyone Can be an Audiophile

the Leon Speakers founder dispels some myths about what it means to be an audiophile.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF ELEMENTS that go into designing a great space: the materials, the finishes, the fixtures, the furnishings, the colors, the lighting. But there’s one thing that’s often overlooked: the sound. I believe that sound is an incredibly important element of modern interior design, because sound is what helps create the vibe of a space, the ambiance. And one of our goals at Leon is to start to get architects and designers excited about designing with it. We want to show them what the possibilities are and how we can work together to create objects that are just as beautiful as anything else they’re specifying.

Speakers aren’t what they used to be. They don’t have to be giant, bulky, piano-black towers anymore. They’re streamlined, they’re sleek, and they can be designed to blend into a space so that you don’t even notice that they’re there at all. We’ve come a long way since the early days of hi-fi and it’s important for us to get the message out there, beyond our industry, that you don’t have to choose between performance and aesthetics anymore. It’s possible to have both.

I really want to debunk what it means to be an audiophile, too. Because it doesn’t mean that you have to be an audio expert; it just means that you care about good sound and that you recognize the importance of investing in it. Just like you don’t have to be a fashion expert to know good style when you see it, and how you don’t need to understand the inner workings of a luxury car in order to buy one. It’s the same story with sound. Anyone can be an audiophile and we want everyone to understand the value that great sound brings to a space.

At Leon, it isn’t just about creating speakers for us. It’s about designing beautiful objects that truly enhance the lives of the people they’re designed for. We want to give you a better soundtrack for your life.
